The tour starts at Alexanderplatz and takes you to the Red Town Hall (seat of the mayor of Berlin) and the historical Nicholas Quarter next. From there you will walk to the site of the reconstruction of the city palace, see Berlin cathedral (the city´s largest church) and pass on to Museum Island. This UNESCO World Heritage Site houses treasures from 6000 years of human history. Other historical buildings on Unter den Linden that are part of the tour: The Armoury (nowadays home to the German Historical Museum), the New Guard (used as Memorial to the victims of war and repression), the Humboldt University, State Opera and St. Hedwig´s Cathedral. You will see where the burning of books in 1933 took place, walk Gendarmenmarkt, one of Berlin´s most beautiful squares, and end the tour at Berlin´s most famous sight – Brandenburg Gate.
