This day tour gives you a chance to experience the palaces and gardens of Potsdam, UNESCO World Cultural Heritage since 1990. The tour features an interior visit of Sanssouci Palace, a walk in Sanssouci and Cecilienhof Gardens and, for example, a stroll through the old town in the Baroque Style to see the City Palace, Potsdam´s Brandenburg Gate and the Dutch Quarter. Potsdam has many lakes and the river Havel runs right through the city center. Stunning and unexpected views of parks, lakes and peculiar attractions like the Dragon House in the Chinese Style, a former pumping house in the style of a mosque, a Dutch Quarter and a Russian village will make this day unforgettable.
The tour starts in Berlin, and already on your way to Potsdam you will encounter Lake Wannsee where Berliners like to crowd the beaches in summer, Glienicke Palace with two beautiful lion statues by Berlin´s most famous architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Glienicke Bridge where during the Cold War several exchanges of spies took place, famously covered in Steven Spielberg´s movie “Bridge of Spies”. On request we can also take you to the villa of the well-known impressionist painter Max Liebermann and the site of the infamous Wannsee conference in 1941 or even use a ferry boat to visit Peacock Island with its unique little palace and free-ranging peacocks that often welcome visitors by displaying their beautiful train.
In Sanssouci Gardens we will not only visit the castle itself (closed on Mondays), but also see the tomb of Prussia´s famous king Frederick II, who built the palace and is buried nearby, and the popular postcard motif of the terraced vineyards at the palace´s Southern front. Other impressive sights are the New Palace, which Frederick called his “Fanfaronnade” (a place for showing off) and the Orangery Palace which was built in the 19th century in the style of the Italian rennaissance.
Another part of Potsdam´s history is more recent when in 1945 Stalin, Truman and Churchill met in Cecilienhof Castle to decide on Germany´s future. An interior tour of the palace can be part of the tour (closed on Mondays). After the conference Potsdam belonged to the Soviet sector and in the Nauener Vorstadt quarter a KGB prison for those suspected to sympathize with the Nazis was established. You will not only see the prison itself, but also the former residential houses of KGB personnel.
The tour includes a lunch break in the old town where a host of cafes and boutiqes and a market with local food await you. At the end of this day to remember we will take you back to Berlin and you will be prepared for new adventures in the big city with all these fresh impressions in your mind.

It is also possible to visit the interior of Cecilienhof Palace (closed on Mondays). For larger groups we will register you for a tour of 45 minutes. For smaller groups the premium ticket for Sanssouci Palace is also valid for Cecilienhof Palace without a surcharge.
For larger groups we recommend the restaurant at Gutshof Bornstedt – at walking distance from the parking lot for busses at Sanssouci Palace.
